What The Scot? is on a mission to celebrate Scots language, literature and Scottish culture!

Dae ye ken a boorach fae a bosie?
A hooley fae a hoolet?

For a wee country, Scotland has had more than its fair share of writerly voices. And apparently, some of these have been easier to read than others.

Perhaps you’re already a fan of Burns or Irvine Welsh. Or perhaps, you’d like to be, only that dang accent keeps putting you off.

Or, maybe you’re one of those people who doesn’t understand why those damn Scots need their own language. It’s just an accent, right? A hard to understand one at that!

Whether you’re a nay-sayer or a what-are-they-saying-er, What The Scot? is here to help.

Join me as I try and demystify some of the “whys” and “hows” of the Scots language – and offer advice along the way.

Get started by checking out a writer’s guide, or check out my resources page for advice or links to find out more about this wonderful language, and how you can harness it.
